You can leave the Sound profile set to General and no need to use the "Silent" mode. As far as I can remember, "Silent" really now works as the literal meaning unlike before Lollipop that it can still work with Alarms.
I'll suggest to have the Downtime settings configured under Interruptions and just leave the Sound Profile to General.
Working from Monday-Friday during day time. Prefer to sleep at 10 PM and should be awake by 5 AM.
Downtime settings will be Days selected - Sun-Thur; Start time - 9:45 PM; End time - 8 AM (next day); Interruptions allowed - None/Priority only (depends on preference) and Alarm will be by 5 AM Mon-Fri
This means that I won't get any notification from 9:45 PM of Sunday until 8 AM Monday, like my phone was off or on silent which on their term is "Do Not Disturb" and after 8 AM will function like normal and I'll get notified as to whatever there is like calls, etc. BUT my alarm would still ring and I'll hear it by 5 AM
This can be further setup, like even Downtime is currently in effect then I can still have particular contacts "disturb" me since that can be treated as "for emergency" kind of cases.
Hope that you get the idea. It's really not making our AF2 silent, literally, BUT just setting it on a "Do Not Disturb" mode at particular times.
